HALF MOON BAY -- Bay Area native Dena Denniston recently opened Crow's Nest, a women's boutique, to honor her best friend who died after a battle with breast cancer.
Denniston, of Redwood City, and her childhood friend Christine Marent were in the middle of making plans to open a fashion boutique when Marent became ill. She died in 2012, but Denniston continued with plans for Crow's Nest.
The store, which sells clothes, accessories and bath products, was named in honor of Marent, who had a fondness for crows. It opened last month at 406 Main St. in Half Moon Bay, and will hold a grand opening celebration and open house on Oct. 3.
In memory of Marent, who was an artist, Crow's Nest is selling charm bracelets in partnership with a local jewelry designer, and will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to the Half Moon Bay High School's art department.
