SAN FRANCISCO -- Coffee shop Espressamente illy has opened in the Castro neighborhood, bringing a taste of the Italian coffee culture to the city.
The 49-seat cafe, created by Italian designer Luca Trazzi, is modern architecture meets neighborhood coffee shop, with a variety of couches, Italian decor and a chandelier made out of coffee cups. And the coffee is the type you savor in small sips -- a pour-over bar where baristas brew coffee one cup at a time, lattes, espresso and coffee concoctions with flavors such as jasmine-vanilla. Baristas will give willing customers a lesson on how to make coffee at home. The cafe also has a retail area and food menu.
Espressamente illy Castro is at 2349 Market St. and is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. It is the second San Francisco location for the Italian company.
