San Jose State sophomore linebacker Derek Muaava's season is over after an MRI revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

He was injured while covering a punt return in the Spartans' 31-20 victory over Texas State last weekend.

"That's a tough loss," Spartans coach Mike MacIntyre said. "He's a physical presence."

Muaava was a starting outside linebacker. He'll be replaced in the lineup by redshirt freshman Hector Roach.

Also, cornerback Damon Ogburn Jr. (hamstring) returned to practice after missing two games and will be available at Idaho on Saturday.
