LAST SEASON: 20-14, 8-8 (fifth in WCC)

COACH: Rex Walters, fifth season at USF, 62-66; seventh season overall, 93-99

KEY PLAYERS: Junior guard

Cody Doolin (9.3 points, 3.8 assists), forward

Cole Dickerson (7.1 points, 4.0 rebounds), junior guard

De'End Parker (UCLA transfer)

SCOUTING REPORT: The Dons are suddenly rebuilding a season after winning 20 games for the first time in 30 years. Six would-be returnees left after last season, and Walters is starting over with a few veterans and nine freshmen and transfers. The lone returning starter is Doolin, the floor leader from Texas who made his mark as a freshman when he had 23 points in an overtime upset of Gonzaga. Anchoring the frontcourt are two athletic forwards, the 6-7, 230-pound Dickerson and the versatile 6-6 Parker. Dickerson finished strong last season with a career-high 19 points in the CIT loss to Washington State and averaged 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two exhibition wins. Parker transferred from UCLA, but he grew up in San Francisco and starred on CCSF's state title team.
