Ontario Police Department dedicated its new firearms training facility within the city's police station.

In the past, officers have had to go to ranges outside the city for firearms practice or to complete their qualification.

The range cost $1.57 million, most of which came from grants and other sources.

It includes a 25-yard tactical live-fire range, 40-seat classroom and a 1,200 square foot modular training simulation structure - the first of its kind west of the Mississippi.

It will support training for both the police and fire departments.
