LONG BEACH - A Long Beach man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning on Pacific Coast Highway, police said.

Adolfo Lopez-Perez, 37, was walking south across Pacific Coast Highway near Junipero Avenue, but not in a crosswalk, when he was struck about 12:45 a.m. by a green 1997 Geo Prism that was traveling east on Pacific Coast Highway, said Nancy Pratt, a spokeswoman with the Long Beach Police Department.

Lopez-Perez died at the scene, Pratt said.

Officers located the abandoned Geo a few blocks away - near Temple Avenue and 17th Street - and impounded it for investigation, she said.

The suspect is still at large, but police didn't release a description or additional information about the driver.
