Election results start 8:30 p.m. Tuesday

Election results will be released beginning at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Monterey County Elections Department, starting with vote-by-mail and mail ballot precincts, followed at 10 p.m. by polling places, updated each hour until results are complete.

Countywide election results reports are available on the website by selecting the link Latest Election Results from the left side of the homepage. Paper copies of official election results are released and available at the department in Salinas. Statewide election results are available through the secretary of state at www.sos.ca.gov.

The canvass of the vote continues after Election Day, and must be completed no later than 28 days after the election. Updated results will be released each Friday afternoon until all valid ballots have been counted in accordance with state law.

SALINAS

Phinney, Taylor host celebration Tuesday

Salinas mayoral candidate Rick Phinney and Republican congressional candidate Jeff Taylor will hold an election night celebration from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at 300 Main St.
