Community volunteer joins recreation district board

Kimberly Main, a community volunteer in the San Lorenzo Valley, will join the Boulder Creek Recreation District board.

Main finished third in the five-way race on Tuesday with 24 percent of the 6,856 votes cast.

Main was bested by recreation district incumbents Tess Fitzgerald, received 27 percent of the vote with 1,841, and Brian Valdivia, who came in second with 24.3 percent of the votes.

Michael Watson, a business student, finished fourth with 13 percent of the votes.

Richard Chatoff took fifth with 11.2 percent.

Three incumbents return to recreation board

Three incumbents will be appointed to new four-year terms in December.

No challengers ran for a seat on the La Selva Recreation District board.

John Faraola, Gregory Carter and Dolores Wiemers will be appointed in lieu of an election.

SANTA CRUZ Port

No challengers in port district

Without any challengers in Tuesday's election, three board members will return to their seats on the Santa Cruz Port District board.

Steve Reed, Bill Lee and Dennis "Denny" Smith will be appointed to new four-year terms in lieu of an election.
