Shot fired at deputy's car
Law enforcement units descended on a Prunedale neighborhood Wednesday after someone shot the rear window of a deputy's patrol vehicle, spraying the deputy with glass, the Sheriff's Office said.
The deputy received minor injuries in the incident about 4:30 p.m. at Meridian Road and Castroville Boulevard, and was treated at the scene and released, the Sheriff's Office said.
A search for the suspect came up short, the office said.

Man arrested on child abuse charge
A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on allegations he molested a girl younger than 14, police said.
Police said they began an investigation after the girl told her mother she was molested for several months at her home.
Police identified the suspect as Andres Montiel and arrested him. He was booked into Monterey County Jail and is being held on $400,000 bail, police said.
Two injured in collision in rural area
Two women were taken by air ambulance to a San Francisco Bay Area trauma center on Wednesday after their midsize sedan was involved in a collision with a full-size truck in rural Salinas, fire Capt. Hector Cortez said.

The women were taken to the Posse Grounds to be airlifted to the Bay Area.
The male driver of the truck, which had an empty cattle trailer, wasn't injured, Cortez said.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
