The group has been around since January.
All levels of walkers are welcome and the main group meets at 9 a.m. Tuesdays at the corner of Bonita and Yale avenues next to the Rhino Records parking lot.
The group walks around various Claremont Village neighborhoods and campus areas.
One day last week, there were about 20 people who walked.
The group has 45 people but depending on weather or time of year the numbers of people vary, organizers said.
Mike Eschleman, 69, helped start the group with the late former water polo coach Gary Troyer.
"It's a healthy exercise that makes you feel good in the morning," Eschleman said. "Hopefully, it pays off later in life."
Attendees who complete their first walk and show up for the second can receive a free shirt, Eschleman said.
Eschleman said he just walks a couple of days a week with the group.
"Walking with other people makes it fun not boring," Eschleman said. "It's kind of a social aspect."
Walkers come and go as they please and are not expected to walk every walk, Eschleman said.
The group consists mostly of "active seniors" who are age 55 and older with the oldest walker being age 85, Eschleman said.
But there is no age limit to participate, and occasionally walkers will bring their grandchildren.
Walker Sandy Hester, 69, said she took the summer off after having foot surgery but was back to walk more regularly.
"Showing up is the hardest part," said Hester, who has been with the group since January. "The rest is easy and fun. Once you're here, it flows."
Hester said the walks help attendees get more familiar with the scenery in Claremont.
Harold Eno, 85, said he had also walked with the group since January.
"I've been to every walk except two weeks where I was out sick," Eno said. "I like the friendships. Just the way we can socialize."
Eno said he does walk on his own but "this (group) is more fun."
After the walk, group members who want to will meet for coffee, Hester said.
On Thursdays, the group meets at 8 a.m. at Thompson Creek Trail in the parking lot at 2471 N. Indian Hill Blvd.
