Veterans saluted at annual Veterans Day march, ceremony
Veterans will gather at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Freedom Boulevard and Main Street for the annual Veterans Day march through the downtown to the Veterans Memorial Building, 215 E. Beach St., where breakfast will be served and further ceremonies conducted.
Adult school to offer exam preparation course in Spanish
The Santa Cruz Adult School, at 319 La Fonda Ave., is offering GED. exam preparation in Spanish.
The series of seven classes begin 9-11 a.m. Saturday and will include the study of math, reading, writing and social studies. Students also will practice using a computer. Cost is $47.

Fifth annual Billiards Gala to benefit youth
For Kids Foundation Monterey Bay presents the fifth annual Billiards Gala from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Surf City Billiards, 931 Pacific Ave.
The charity event features pool, darts, shuffleboard, appetizers, silent auction and no-host bar.

Superior Court to hold free workshop on small claims
The Santa Cruz County Superior Court will host a small claims workshop 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The hourlong workshop will present information on basic small claims forms, procedures and mediation. Representatives from the court's self-help and conflict resolution center will also answer questions.
The workshop is free and will be held at the county's Law Library in Room 70 of the basement of the County Building, at 701 Ocean St. in Santa Cruz.

Assemblyman selects four for 2012 Veteran of the Year Award
Assemblyman Luis Alejo, D-Watsonville, has selected four former service members for the 2012 Veteran of the Year Award.
Each from one of the four counties that comprise the 28th Assembly District, the veterans will be recognized for their valor in service to the country and dedication to community service at home.
Those chosen include Claudia Ward of Monterey County, who served in the Army 1968-1996; Nazhat Parveen Sharma of San Benito County, who served in the Army 1984-1990; David Bautista of Santa Clara County, who was in the Air Force 2002-2006; and Harry Wiggins of Santa Cruz County, who was in the Army 1960-1984.
County Clerk's Office brings services to Watsonville
The County Clerk's Office will offer services in Watsonville on Wednesday to allow South County residents access closer to home.
Residents will be able to apply for passports and marriage licenses, register a fictitious business name or as a notary, get sworn in as a deputy commissioner of marriage and obtain health officer verification.
