This year, Veterans Day lands on Sunday, but it's observed by most local city halls and city services on Monday -- except in Long Beach.

Long Beach City Hall will remain open Monday, although federal and state offices, banks and schools are normally closed.

Refuse collection will operate on its normal schedule, and street sweeping schedules are normal all week long.

Most Long Beach city services, including all Parks, Recreation and Marine and Health Department programs, will operate on their normal schedules. However, all city libraries are closed on Mondays.

Parking meters that are labeled as exempt on holidays won't be enforced Sunday. However, meters will be enforced as usual on Monday.

Hourly parking zones will be enforced on Monday, but not on Sunday.

Parking meters at downtown and beach lots are always enforced, with no exemptions. Red, white and blue curbs are also always enforced, with no exemptions, according to city spokeswoman Phalla Chau.

Elsewhere, in Bellflower, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood and Los Alamitos, there will be no service changes for the holiday. The trash collection and street sweeping will continue as scheduled.

However, in Norwalk, Paramount, Seal Beach and Signal Hill, there will be no street sweeping, but a regular trash collection schedule Monday.
