Portions of the westbound Garden Grove (22) and San Diego (405) freeways will be closed nightly through Friday, according to transportation officials.

The work is part of the Orange County Transportation Authority's $277 million West County Connectors project.

Earlier this year, the northbound San Diego/westbound Garden Grove/Seventh Street connector was closed for one year while it was reconstructed to accommodate new car-pool lanes on the 405 beneath the bridge.

The project earlier this year shut down parts of the 405, 22 and San Gabriel (605) freeways for roughly 12 months, forcing drivers to take detours and often slowing traffic.

The latest round of closures will be between Valley View Street and Studebaker Road, along with the northbound San Diego Freeway between Valley View and Seal Beach Boulevard. They will be closed through 5 a.m. today, and will close again at midnight today to 5 a.m. Friday.

Portions will be closed between Studebaker and Seal Beach Boulevard, from 11 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Friday; and from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.

The westbound Garden Grove Freeway at Valley View will be closed from midnight today to 5 a.m. Friday.

Several local freeway connectors will be closed nightly this week, between 11 p.m. and 5a.m., including the northbound San Diego connector to northbound San Gabriel (605) Freeway through Friday morning.
