A public hearing will be held from 2-4 p.m. Thursday in San Pedro to discuss proposed changes to the Workforce Investment Act system due to budget challenges.

The system provides employment and training opportunities for adults, displaced workers and youth.

At the state level, legislation is being proposed that would restrict the use of WIA funds and place a greater emphasis on performance, accountability and cost effectiveness.

Various hearings will be conducted in Los Angeles County to get feedback on the changes. The San Pedro hearing will be held at the San Pedro Service Center, 769 W. Third St.
