LONG BEACH -- Police are investigating a possible hit-and-run crash that resulted in California Highway Patrol officer being taken to a local hospital. | PHOTOS

Long Beach Police and Fire Department crews were sent to the area of Wardlow Road, near Pine Avenue, at about 2 p.m. following a call of a possible hit-and-run, officers at the scene said.

The CHP officer, who was riding a motorcycle, may have been in the middle of a pursuit when the officer was hit by another vehicle, which fled the area.

Police Department authorities could not comment on the situation, saying the investigation is still fluid.
