Annual boutique set for Saturday

The Congregational Church of Soquel will host its annual Holly Day Boutique 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday with a $7 lunch available starting at 11 a.m. The event will feature a variety of handcrafted goods. The church is at 4951 Soquel Drive. For details, call 475-2867 or visit www.ccsoquel.org.

Thanksgiving raffle on Sunday

St. Vincent de Paul Church, at 123 Marine View Ave., Davenport, is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Basket Raffle at 10 a.m. Sunday. People will get a chance to win a large holiday food basket, as well as gift certificates to Ristorante Italiano, El Jardin Restaurant, Crow's Nest or Shadowbrook Restaurants, D'Anna's Deli, Taqueria La Cabaña and other prizes.

The price to enter is $1 per ticket, six for $5 or 12 for $10. Tickets also available at the church after Mass, or at the Shrine of St. Joseph at 544 W. Cliff Drive, Santa Cruz.

Classes offered at Temple Beth El

Temple Beth El, at 3055 Porter Gulch Road, Aptos, offers a variety of adult education classes that are open to the public. Each section is $60 for members, $75 for the public and free for members of three years or less.

Upcoming classes include:

  • The Holidays and Life Cycles: Learn about the Jewish holiday cycle

    and life-cycle events, its connection to agriculture in ancient Israel, and how the Jewish community marks significant life events such as brit milah, bar/bat mitzvah and weddings. Rabbi Paula Marcus will lead the classes, which will be held from 7-8 p.m. each Thursday through Jan. 10.

  • Beginning Hebrew I: Learn Hebrew or brush up on the ancient language with a course that focuses on the basic Hebrew reading of Shabbat and festival blessings. Classes will be held from 8-9 p.m. Thursdays through Jan. 10.
