COSTA MESA - A 33-year-old woman, whom Costa Mesa police tried to pull over for traffic violations, led an officer on a short chase, pulled over and then got out of her pickup truck and jumped from the overpass of the San Diego (405) Freeway at Bear Street on Monday, but survived the fall.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana in critical condition, according to Costa Mesa police.

The woman was wanted on an arrest warrant from Los Angeles County on drug-related charges, Costa Mesa police said.

The officer attempted to pull the woman over about 10:45 a.m., police said.
