It's been said that anybody can learn how to juggle. All they need are enough balls to do it.
And so, we announce the 13th annual Daily Breeze Ball Drive, which helps connect needy kids with round, bouncy toys that will help make their Christmas a little brighter.
Since we started collecting balls more that 12 years ago, thousands of less fortunate Harbor Area and South Bay children have found something special under the tree.
In fact, we're proud to note that we passed the 10,000 balls mark last year. That's a lot of people donating a lot of balls.
Help us - and the youngsters - by keeping the tradition going strong for kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor, as well as the Interfaith Shelter and Rainbow Shelter. In these tough economic times, the need is even greater.
We're merely the conduit. The real effort belongs to the folks who go to the trouble of buying new balls and bringing them to us.
What kind of balls? We'll take pretty much anything. Baseballs, basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, tennis balls or even a set of juggling balls - if it's new and it bounces, we'll take it.
Tempus fugit, so don't forget that the last day to make donations is Dec. 14.
Balls can be delivered to the Daily Breeze lobby from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays starting Friday. We're located at 21250 Hawthorne Blvd., Suite 170, in Torrance.
You also can drop them off at the Boys & Girls Club of Wilmington starting Monday.
Thank you in advance. You've always come through for us, and we know you will again.
