Boulder Creek Holiday

Downtown Boulder Creek is hosting a holiday celebration with a visit from Santa Claus at 6 p.m. and Christmas tree lighting. The event will also include street musicians, decorated trees, face painters and stores open late for shoppers. Most Unique Parties & Ponys will perform a magic show, followed by face painting and balloon twisting, plus the local Jazzercise dancers. The evening will conclude with Santa visiting Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub with Mrs. Claus for photos. Horse-drawn carriage rides will depart in front of Jenna Sue's, Carriage rides and Santa photos cost $5 each, with proceeds going to the Boulder Creek Business Association CANpaign Fund to Light Up The Town.

Train to Christmas Town

Hop aboard the Train to Christmas Town on this one-hour ride on the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line, newly acquired by Santa Cruz County. Along the way, passengers will be served gingerbread cookies and hot cocoa, and Santa Claus boards the train at "Christmas Town" near Wilder Ranch. The ride re-enacts the children's book of the same name.

Christmas store opens

Scotts Valley Artisans is celebrating the holidays with its Christmas Store. The holiday hot spot is a fundraiser for Scotts Valley Artisans' nonprofit community art center, and includes handcrafted wreaths, Christmas decor, gift wrap and tags, ornaments, candles, Christmas jewelry and other crafts. A full gift wrapping service is available for presents purchased at SVA or at other stores, with proceeds going to Scotts Valley Artisans. The Christmas Store will hold an official open house Friday with cookies, hot chocolate, eggnog, and soft drinks available.

FAIR TRADE HOLIDAY EVENT

The nonprofit Rising International is having a special holiday sale that will feature fairly traded jewelry, fashion accessories and home décor handmade by women business owners living in the poorest countries of the world. Rising's artisans are paid a fair or living wage for their work based on a living wage calculator. This enables the artisans to charge enough to lift themselves, and their families out of poverty. The event's offerings will include turquoise and silver jewelry made by women that we're rescued from brothels in India and colorful aprons made by women that survived gender based violence in the Congo. When you purchase an apron you help provide trauma therapy for these women.

WREATHS Workshop

SV holiday tree lot

The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation is opening its holiday tree lot after Thanksgiving. This is one of the organization's most popular fundraisers.
