A woman was rescued after she jumped off the Manhattan Beach pier, county lifeguard officials said Sunday.

The woman jumped about 10:40 p.m. Saturday, prompting a response of lifeguards, Manhattan Beach firefighters and police officers, and U.S. Coast Guard officers.

The woman was quickly rescued, taken to shore and brought to a hospital for observation.
