The planned start time is 10:30 a.m.
This burn is part of an ongoing cooperative effort with the South Monterey County Rural Coalition to demonstrate yellow star thistle control best practices. Today's burn will remove standing plants and prepare for an application of herbicide in the spring to stop new plants from growing.
Fort Hunter Liggett coordinates all control burns with the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District and works in conjunction with mutual aid partners at CalFire and the U.S. Forest Service to manage the burn.
Follow the Fort Hunter Liggett Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FortHunterLiggett for more on the project.
