Man shot in head Friday dies
A 19-year-old man died Saturday after being shot in the head Friday, Salinas police said.
Police said Devante Arias was conscious and breathing at 4:45 p.m. Friday when they arrived on scene.
Arias, who had also had a been shot in his buttocks, was placed on life support at a San Francisco Bay Area hospital.
Witnesses told police they saw a light brown or gold Toyota Camry slowly drive pass Arias' house before and after the shooting.
The shooting, which appeared to be gang-related, happened in the 1000 block of Garner Avenue. The shooter is 18 to 20 years old, police said.
Drugs, forged license tabs found during traffic stop
A Greenfield traffic stop Sunday night led sheriff's deputies to discover about 130 forged Department of Motor Vehicles registration tabs and methamphetamine.
Deputies made the vehicle stop about 9:45 p.m. at Apple Avenue and El Camino Real. The forged DMV tabs — the small stickers that have the month and year of registration — and an open container of beer were in view, deputies said.
A search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine and smoking pipes, deputies said.
Booked into Monterey County Jail were Alicia Lopez, 39, of King city, and Arnoldo Guerrero, 37, of King City, deputies said.
Man booked for having meth for sale
A man stopped for a traffic violation Monday afternoon was found with
Felix Galloso, 20, was without a driver's license and had a replica pellet pistol in his waistband, police said.
He is now in Monterey County Jail on suspicion of having methamphetamine for sale.
Deputies seek help finding missing man
Sheriff's investigators have asked the public for help in finding a Greenfield area man reported missing by family members in September.
The Sheriff's Office said Jose DeJesus Hernandez Jr., 28, was last known to have been in the King City area Sept. 9.
All leads about his possible whereabouts have proved negative, deputies said.
A photo of DeJesus was released Monday, and the Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to call investigators at 755-3772 or the tip line at 888-833-4847.
One of 3 juveniles who fled, crashed car held
Three male juveniles fled from a probation officer in a car and crashed it into a house Monday morning.
A probation officer spotted a juvenile on a no bail warrant, which led the teenagers to jump in the car of female probationer at the 1300 block of Bernardo Avenue and drive off. Police said they found the car after the juveniles had crashed it into a residence on Nogal Drive.
One of the 17-year-olds was caught by police, cited for trespassing and released to his parents. The other two have been identified by not located, police said.
The female probationer was later sent to juvenile hall for stealing a vehicle while the officers tried to find the three boys, police said.
