Several early-morning wrecks in the rain, one of them fatal, slowed traffic across the San Fernando Valley. | CHECK ALTERNATE ROUTES
A person was killed and two others injured in a Toluca Lake crash reported at 4:43 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said. That wreck happened on the westbound 134 Freeway at Cahuenga Boulevard.
Two hours earlier, a jackknifed big rig on the 5 Freeway closed all lanes for hours. By 7:45 a.m., all lanes in both directions had reopened, the California Highway Patrol said.
That crash, north of Colorado Street, was reported at 2:21 a.m., CHP Officer Anthony Martin said.
About 6 a.m., yet another jackknifed truck closed a transition road in Pasadena, where the westbound 210 and 134 freeways split, the CHP said.
And smaller incidents backed up traffic all over, including a traffic hazard on the eastbound 101 Freeway near Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks that slowed cars back to Woodland Hills.
