Shop Local Week under way
Think Local First County of Santa Cruz is launching Shop Local Week through Dec. 6.
The group, which has 650 member businesses, is asking local residents to shop at those locally owned businesses to keep money circulating locally. The group's Great Money Race, starting with $500, generated $7,511 in 28 days and ends Friday.
Anyone is eligible to win prizes donated by Think Local members by emailing a pledge to firstname.lastname@example.org promising to shop at Think Local member businesses through Dec. 6.
Those names will be entered in a drawing at Think Local's fifth annual Egg Nog Mixer 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at KSCO radio, 2300 Portola Drive. If your name is drawn and you can produce a local receipt, you win.
