LONG BEACH — A car drove off the road and down a bluff above a popular beach path Friday night at Redondo Avenue and Ocean Boulevard.

The male driver wasn't injured and no other injuries were reported, according to police at the scene. Witnesses said the driver appeared to be intoxicated.

Witnesses said that at about 8:30 p.m. the driver was southbound on Redondo headed toward Ocean, which is a T intersection, when he continued straight through a green light, jumped the curb, broke a guardrail and went over the bluff.

The car traveled down the steep incline for about 15 feet before it slowed and came to a stop, hitting some bushes.

Police took the driver into custody but provided no further details about the incident or any charges.
