A former Seal Beach woman - accused of lying to help her ex-fiancé cover-up a double-murder and dismemberment - Thursday was ordered to stand trial by an Orange County Superior Court judge.
Rachel Mae Buffett, 25, now of Costa Mesa, will be arraigned Dec. 26. She was ordered to stand trial following a preliminary hearing presided over by Judge Kazuharu Makino, a retired judge sitting on assignment.
Authorities charge Buffett with misleading Costa Mesa homicide investigators during the probe of her former fiancé, actor Daniel Patrick Wozniak.
The defendant faces the death penalty if convicted of murdering and dismembering his neighbor, Samuel Herr, in Los Alamitos, to gain access to his bank account. Wozniak is also accused of killing the man's girlfriend, Juri "Julie" Kibuishi, in an alleged effort to cover up his alleged murder.
Detectives also accused Wozniak of taking parts of Herr's body and hiding them near El Dorado Park in Long Beach.
Arrested Nov. 20, Buffett pleaded not guilty in court on Dec. 3. Buffett faces three felony counts of accessory after the fact.
