Angeles Forest Highway and Upper Big Tujunga Road were re-opened before noon, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works said. they had been closed since Friday.
Together, the roads form a back country link across the San Gabriel Mountains that is frequently used by motorists avoiding the longer, congested but lower-elevation freeways via Newhall Pass.
Angeles Forest Highway has a summit at Mill Creek Station, where the
elevation is 4,910 feet. Today's snow level was predicted to be 6,500 feet,
rising to 7,000 feet Monday, the National Weather Service said.
