The Paramount City Council voted Tuesday to cancel its March 5 City Council election, saving about $70,000 in election costs, officials said.

No challengers filed for two open seats held by incumbents Peggy Lemons and Gene Daniels. The council will appoint the two councilmembers for four-year terms that will begin in March.

Similarly, in the 2011 elections, only incumbents filed, so the council canceled that election and appointed the sitting council members.
