MST runs limited lines for holidays
Monterey-Salinas Transit will operate limited bus schedules during the upcoming holidays.
On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, all routes will operate a Sunday schedule, with the exception of Line 25 CSUMB — Salinas, Line 26 CSUMB — East Campus Express, Line 55 Monterey — San Jose Express, and the CSUMB Otter Trolley, which will all operate a weekday schedule.
Line 55 will operate a Sunday schedule on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but all other lines will not be in service those days. Regular MST bus service will resume Wednesday and Jan. 2. Line 26 CSUMB — East Campus Express and the CSUMB Otter Trolley will not be in service from Wednesday through Jan. 1.
Due to furloughs, MST administrative offices in Monterey and the customer service window at the Marina Transit Exchange will be closed Monday through Jan. 2, and the The Salinas Transit Center and MST Bus Stop Shop in Monterey will be closed Monday through Dec. 30.
The Salinas Transit Center and Bus Stop Shop will be open New Year's Eve, but closed on New Year's Day.

Steinbeck Center hosts toy giveaway
The National Steinbeck Center, along with the Cabrera and Pedersen families, host a toy giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Alisal Union School District office, l1205 E. Market St.
Free Libraries system closing for holidays
All branches and programs of the Monterey County Free Libraries system will be closed for a winter recess starting Sunday.
The Seaside branch and administrative offices will reopen Jan. 2, with the other branches and the bookmobiles returning Jan. 3.
Due dates for all items will be extended because all book drops will be closed during the winter recess.
January marks Fine-Free Month, when libraries will waive most overdue charges.
