Thieves run off with Rolex
A Rolex watch valued at $15,000 was taken from a jewelry store by a two thieves during the weekend.
Police said the men entered Fortane Estate Jewelers, Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Street, at 4 p.m. Saturday.
After putting on a steel and yellow gold, diamond-dial Rolex watch, one of the men asked to see another watch, police said.
When he was told he could examine only one watch at a time, police said, he and the other man turned and ran to the door, where a woman employee tried unsuccessfully to block them.
The men drove away in a silver Nissan auto, police said.
The watch was described as a Model 116243, serial number V635926 .
Two face drug, stolen property charges
A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and stolen property on Monday after the man was pulled over for a traffic stop just before 11 a.m., police reported.
A large, straight-edged knife matching the description of one stolen in a burglary was found in the car, police said.
The driver, Eric Anthony Lujan, 23, was taken into custody.
His home in the 100 block of 4th Street was searched, police said, where a stolen .357-caliber revolver, a flat-screen television set, coins, jewelry, two knives, DVD players and car stereos were found.
Methamphetamine and marijuana was also found, police said.
Michelle Vieira, who was in the house, was also arrested, according to police.
Vieira and Lujan were booked into county jail.
