More than 2.2 million passengers are expected to pass through Los Angeles International Airport during a 13-day period beginning Friday, an increase of more than 5 percent from last year, airport officials said Thursday.

Officials estimate the busiest travel days will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with Dec. 28 and Jan. 2. Airport officials say LAX's peak travel periods are generally 6-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. They recommend travelers check in with their airline online and arrive at the airport two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights.
