Officials reopened the stretch of freeway north of Redding late Friday night. The freeway was closed earlier Friday when a storm dropped several inches of snow in some areas of Siskiyou and Shasta counties.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the area, saying that an additional two to four inches of snow is expected to fall on the area through Saturday.
Even with the freeway open, forecasters say the roadway is expected to remain slippery. Gusting winds, along with the falling snow, are also expected to reduce visibility from Yreka, north to the Oregon border.
