Public Library to close early for New Year's
The Upland Public Library will close early for the New Year's Day holiday.
The library will be closed from 5 p.m. Monday through Jan. 1.
Regular hours of service will resume on Jan. 2
Book-Enders to discuss book set in World War II
The Book-Enders club at the Upland Public Library will be discussing "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand during their meeting on Jan. 5.
The group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon in the multipurpose room, 450 N. Euclid Ave.
The book is about an Army Air Forces bomber who crashed in the Pacific Ocean and disappeared on an afternoon in May 1943.
The book tells the story of the young lieutenant who survived the crash and his journey during World War II.
The meeting is free to participate.

Chamber holds economic development forum
The Upland Chamber of Commerce will hold a Governmental Relations & Economic Development Forum meeting from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Jan. 10 at its office, 215 N. Second Ave. Suite D, in Upland.
The Government Relations Forum monitors legislative issues and seeks actions from the board of directors on important city, state and national business-related legislation or regulations that impact business owners' ability to do business.
These open forums are monthly with city and school
This committee's primary responsibility is to create and support a positive business climate.

Final registration for Foothill Little League
Final registration for the Upland Foothill Little League's spring season will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 7 at Pepper Tree Elementary School, 1045 W. 18th St. in Upland.
There will be no online registration.
All registration and proof of residency reviews must take place in person.
Guardians signing up their children must bring:
- the original birth certificate for each player. No abstract copies are allowed.
- three proofs of residency such as utility bills, car insurance and driver's license.

Fees for major/minor leagues is $195 and farm/t-ball is $175.
There is a $20 sibling discount.
Fees include player dues, a $40 snack bar buyout, which is funded after working each required shift, and two $10 discount cards.
All parents are urged to attend the flowers field cleanup party from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 9.
Housing Authority plan review period ending
The public comment period on the Upland Housing Authority's 2013 annual plan is ending soon.
All public comments on the plan and other programs must been received by Friday in order to be taken into consideration.
Proposed revisions to the Housing Choice Voucher Program Administrative Plan, which establishes policies that govern the Section 8 program, as well as the Public Housing Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy, which establishes policies that govern the Public Housing program, are also available online.
