Armed robberies reported in Aptos, Santa Cruz
A man walking to work Sunday evening was robbed by two men armed with a shotgun and a knife, Santa Cruz police said.
The man told officers he was walking on Seaside and Palm streets around 5:15 p.m. when he was shoved from behind. He turned around and saw two males, one of whom had a shotgun and the other who had a knife. They robbed him of his personal property, Deputy Chief Steve Clark said. Clark did not immediately have a description of what the suspects took.
The victim was uninjured and continued walking to work, where he called police.
Both suspects are described as Latino males, one of whom was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, a ski mask and jeans. The man with a gun was wearing a dark beanie cap and a dark mask.
Suspects with similar descriptions also robbed a Quizno's in Aptos on Sunday, sheriff's deputies said. Lt. Bob Pursley said two Latino males reportedly robbed the store, and one of them was armed with a shot gun. No further details were immediately available. Authorities are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.
Woman found after getting lost near retreat

The woman was attending a conference at Bosch Baha'i Conference Center on Comstock Lane off Pine Flat Road. She'd returned from an outing around 2 p.m. Sunday and was feeling sick, so she proceeded to walk along a familiar walking path. She became disoriented when darkness fell and she was unable to find her way back to the camp, Lt. Steve Carney said in a news release.
The woman walked for about half a mile before seeking shelter from the rain.
Members of the Sheriff's Office's Search and Rescue Team began looking for the woman around 7 p.m. Sunday and searched throughout the night. Two off-road motorcycle team members found her around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
She was suffering from slight exposure and was treated by fire personnel, Carney said. The woman's parents traveled from Los Angeles when they learned of her disappearance.
