LAKE LOS ANGELES - A woman killed in a head-on collision between a sedan and a pickup truck has been identified by law enforcement officers today.
Tracy Romero, 47, of Lake Los Angeles was pronounced dead at the scene in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County east of Palmdale at 9:49 p.m. Wednesday, after her car struck an approaching truck, California Highway Patrol officers reported.
Romero's car, traveling westbound on Avenue O approaching 152nd Street, veered into eastbound traffic, where it collided with a pickup driven by Ladislao Medina, 50, of Palmdale, Sgt. John Williams said.
Attempts by Medina to evade Romero's vehicle by swerving onto the dirt shoulder of the road failed, according to Williams.
The head-on crash seriously injured Medina and Sylvia Schaeffer, 66, of Palmdale, a passenger in Medina's truck. Both were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, the CHP reported.
