An arrest has been made in a Dec. 21 robbery that occurred at a Cerritos gym, in which a woman reported her purse was snatched by a male suspect.

Detectives from the sheriff's Cerritos Station/Community Safety Center said Friday that they had arrested a 20-year-old male suspect, whose identity wasn't provided, in the purse- snatching incident that took place outside of an LA Fitness.

Deputies responded to a call from a woman stating she had left the gym and was walking in the parking lot when a man exited the passenger side of a vehicle and grabbed her purse. The suspect then re-entered the vehicle, which was driven away by a second person.

The victim provided police with the license plate number for the suspects' vehicle. Cerritos sheriff's detectives followed a lead that led them to the suspect's vehicle in Long Beach.

The 20-year-old South Gate resident was arrested for robbery, but the second suspect hasn't been located at this time. Cerritos police said in a statement that they are conducting a follow-up investigation to gather more information about the incident.
