A 21-year-old man was shot several times at Seaside's University Plaza Shopping Center on Friday night, police said.

The man was flown to a San Francisco Bay Area trauma center.

Police said the incident appeared to be gang-related and started as an "altercation with another male" at a 7-11 store near the shopping center on Fremont Boulevard.

The investigation is ongoing.
