'Police tax' meeting set

Agroup of Salinas residents behind an effort to create a "police tax" will hold a public meeting on Jan. 7.

The group plans to discuss a 10-year tax to fund the construction of a new police station and pay for more officers, according to a news release.

The meeting is at 5:15 p.m. at 1035 Rogge Road.

Youth art focus of museum exhibit

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County will host an exhibit at the Museum of Monterey to honor youth art from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

More than 30 children will be honored for work ranging from digital photography to marker and crayon projects.

Aquarium plans teen conservation meeting

Teens interested in exploring ocean conservation are encouraged to join the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Teen Conservation Leaders group.

An informational meeting will be at 1:30 or 3:30p.m. Jan. 12 in the Discovery Labs at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, 886 Cannery Row.
