Long Beach's 21st annual Holiday "Treecycling" Tree Recycling program offers free disposal of trees. Through Jan. 12, residents can drop off trees at a dozen locations throughout the city. Residents with city refuse service can leave their trees where trash is normally collected by 7 a.m. Jan. 12 for curbside pickup.

The city of Norwalk is offering its Christmas Tree Recycling Program through Jan. 19. Residents can have their trees picked up to be used as compost and landfill cover. Residents in single-family homes can recycle their Christmas trees through Jan. 18 by placing them at the curb for pickup by 7 a.m. on their trash collection days. The trees will be composted or used for the Los Angeles County Sanitation District's daily landfill cover. All ornaments, lights, stands and other items should be removed.

CR&R Waste Management has its Christmas tree collection recycling service through Wednesday for Bellflower. Trees must be free of tinsel, stands and decorations, and those more than 6 feet tall should be cut in half. Downey's trash hauler, CalMet Services, is providing Christmas tree collection service for homes with residential curbside collection for the two weeks after Christmas. Collection of trees will occur on regular trash collection days.
