Hermosa Beach has hired Diane Strickfaden to assume the tasks of two city department heads in her new job as assistant to the city manager, it was announced Friday.

Strickfaden, who started work this week, will oversee the town's Human Resources and Community Resources departments, and provide complex technical assistance to City Manager Tom Bakaly.

A South Bay resident who also grew up in the area, she has worked for Lynwood, Lawndale, Azusa, Norwalk and South El Monte.

With the two department head positions open for some time, Bakaly decided to hire an assistant who would oversee both departments, a city spokeswoman said. Her salary is $103,500 annually with benefits.

Prior to joining Hermosa, Strickfaden was the senior human resources analyst for the city of Lynwood, overseeing day-to-day human relations operations.

Strickfaden was previously the assistant to the city manager in Lawndale, overseeing all human relations operations and organizational strategic planning.
