LONG BEACH - MemorialCare Medical Group plans to open a new medical building featuring an urgent care center Wednesday in the Los Altos area.
The new facility, 2110 Bellflower Blvd. at Stearns Street in the Los Altos MarketCenter, includes primary care and select specialty care physicians.

Memorial officials believe the Los Altos facility will offer convenient health care as part of a strategy of improving availability in Long Beach, the South Bay and Orange County.
"Establishing this new medical facility is critical for the communities we serve," said Diana Hendel, chief executive officer of Long Beach Memorial, Community Hospital Long Beach and Miller Children's Hospital. "It addresses the need for additional primary care physicians today and in the future."

Initially, the medical facility includes seven primary care physicians, a cardiologist and a rheumatologist. It also includes nurses and clinicians specializing in X-ray and laboratory services.
The new Urgent Care Center is one of only a few such centers in Long Beach that treat minor illnesses and injuries and will be open 365 days a year, including holidays and weekends, according to Weiss.
MemorialCare Medical Group is part of MemorialCare Health System, and it represents more than 150 physicians and 1,100 contracted specialists with 32 locations in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
The medical group provides care to more than 130,000 patients.
