LONG BEACH -- Nearly half a dozen Long Beach Fire crews were called out to the World Trade Center at Tuesday afternoon for a mechanical failure in an elevator shaft.

Smoke, but no fire, was found in the downtown highrise and crews were working to get the problem fixed, Long Beach Fire Department Spokesman Will Nash said around 2 p.m.

There were no injuries, Nash said.
