LONG BEACH — Rancho Los Cerritos held a retirement party Thursday to honor Steve Iverson, who has worked as curator at the Rancho for 23 years.
As curator, Iverson oversaw the museum's collections, managed its research library and archives, developed new exhibits and researched the history of the rancho, which was built in 1844.
Iverson was always seen as someone who wore "many hats," said Ellen Calomiris, the rancho's executive director and historic sites officer. "Steve has impacted the Rancho because of all of his dedication, knowledge and passion for history."
The rancho has received national, state and local historic landmark designations and is owned by the city and operated through the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine.
