SAN ANTONIO HEIGHTS -- A Victorville man died early Saturday morning following a shooting in San Antonio Heights, San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials said.

Ryan Christopher Lancaster, 28, died at San Antonio Community Hospital shortly before 1 a.m., officials said. Lancaster was taken to the hospital by an unknown person. Lancaster was suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Fontana deputies were called out to the area of N. Mountain and N. Euclid avenues in San Antonio Heights north of Upland, according to a sheriff's news release.

When deputies and paramedics arrived, the found a vehicle near the location but couldn't find any victims at the scene. Shortly after they received a call from San Antonio Community Hospital alerting officials a gunshot victim, later identified as Lancaster, had just been brought into the emergency room. It was unclear who brought Lancaster to the hospital.

Homicide detectives were called out to investigate the case.
