Los Angeles police have identified a suspect in a series of residential burglaries in southern San Pedro and are hoping someone can provide a tip to help detectives locate him.
Joe Carbajal, 33, of San Pedro allegedly is responsible for break-ins in an area bounded by 10th and 26th streets and Leland and Pacific avenues in early December, Los Angeles police Detective Maurice Graham said.
A burglar struck homes through open windows and open garages, Graham said.
The District Attorney's Office filed three counts of burglary and three counts of identity theft against Carbajal on Dec. 27. A $120,000 warrant was issued for his arrest.
"We feel that he is responsible for a large majority of those burglaries," the detective said.
Court records show Carbajal has been in and out of jail for years for crimes including burglary. Most recently, he was sentenced in May to 486 days in jail. Jail records show he was released from county jail on Nov. 19.
Police asked anyone with information about Carbajal's whereabouts to call Harbor Division Detective Donald Eldridge at 310-726-7853, or the after-hours line at 310-726-7701.
