Seventh Women's Ball is Saturday

Community Human Services will hold its Seventh annual All Women's Ball from 8 to 11 p.m. Jan. 19 at All Saints Church, Dolores Street and Ninth Avenue.

The fundraiser is open to women, though men can volunteer.

Suggested donation is $20, with proceeds going to Community Human Services' Elm House and Safe Place programs.

The agency provides mental health and substance abuse counseling and recovery services to Monterey County residents.

Volunteers are needed to work in the main shop and the newer annex of the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop at 198 Country Club Gate.

NAACP meeting at Oldemeyer Center

The NAACP Monterey County Branch will hold its regular monthly general membership meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Oldemeyer Center, 986 Hilby Ave.

The guest speaker is Dr. Nancy Kotowski, Monterey County superintendent of schools.

She will review and discuss the 2012 Monterey County Education Report to the Community.
