On Nov. 25, a land surveyor realized he left $9,000 worth of equipment at a job site on the 200 block of Mount Hermon Road two days earlier, said Scotts Valley acting Sgt. Jesse Pidcock.
The surveyor reported the equipment stolen and offered a reward in the Scotts Valley Press-Banner for the items. He received a response and arranged to meet a man at a Scotts Valley shopping center on Friday.
The surveyor also contacted police, who attended the exchange.
Police arrested Morrison Dean Stanton on suspicion of possession of stolen property, Pidcock said. Stanton was held in Santa Cruz County Jail Friday in lieu of $5,000 bail, according to jail records.
