WATSONVILLE - Three teens were arrested after a Watsonville police officer spotted a 14-year-old boy driving a minivan on Union Street on Thursday evening.

Officer Scott Mead was on patrol when he spotted a brown Ford Windstar minivan matching the description of a shooting that occurred earlier in Pajaro. The driver appeared to be about 14.

Mead stopped the vehicle, and determined all three occupants were in possession of shotgun ammunition. A shotgun was found inside the car.

Police did not immediately know whether the trio was involved in the earlier shooting, Sgt. Mike McKinley reported. The investigation is continuing.

Mead arrested 18-year-old Roberto Cervantes and a 16-year-old passenger on suspicion of firearm and ammunition violations, probation violations and participation in a gang. The 14-year-old driver also was arrested on those charges.
