Police: Drunken driver strikes power pole on Ocean Street
Ocean Street was closed for hours Sunday morning after an alleged drunken driver lost control of her car and struck a power pole about 4 a.m., police said.
Daisy Morales, 21, had a blood-alcohol level that was twice the legal limit and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Sgt. Dave Perry said.
She lost control of a Toyota Camry and veered into a power pole, sheering off the pole at its base, Perry said. The accident was between Broadway and Barson streets.
Perry said he did not believe it caused a significant power outage, but the westbound lanes were closed until about 1:30 p.m. while crews worked to remove low-hanging wires and repair the damage.
