Therapist plans open house
The Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce plans a ribbon-cutting for Tools for Understanding, Cynthia Frase's private marriage and family therapy practice, at 11 a.m. Friday at 1840 41st Ave., Suite 205B, with an open house to follow until 4 p.m.
There will be live music, giveaways, snacks and beverages.
Frase specializes in working with children. She has experience treating children with aggressive disorders, bipolar disorder, childhood depression, divorce recovery, fear and anxiety, incontinence, post-traumatic stress, sexual abuse, and sleep disorders. She previously worked for a nonprofit providing children's mental health and family support services.

Profile chooses Rodriguez
Profile of Santa Cruz members unanimously elected Phil Rodriguez associate director, responsible for booking guest speakers for member meetings. He succeeds Robin Parke, one of 18 Profile members who found jobs in November, a 15 percent success rate based on total number of Profile members.
Profile of Santa Cruz, a chapter of Experience Unlimited, is an all-volunteer networking group for skilled professionals who are looking for work. Enrollment is at Profile's office at 2045 40th Ave. Orientations for those enrolled are Mondays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participation is free.
The group provides a place where job seekers meet with other career professionals to update job search skills, share job leads and provide support through workshops on topics such as resume writing, interview techniques, and negotiating.
Financial adviser named a leader
Eric Costello, an Edward Jones financial adviser in Aptos, qualified for the firm's 2013 Financial Adviser Leaders Conference, to be held in May at the firm's headquarters in St. Louis.
Costello is among 793 financial advisers who qualified out of the firm's nearly 12,000 financial advisers. He is the only person in Santa Cruz County to qualify.
